A primary school in Zhoukou, Henan province has adopted an unconventional reward system: pork in exchange for perfect scores. Since instituting the meat incentive, the school has raced ahead of its counterparts in terms of scores, with five students reportedly earning perfect scores on two final exams, and 12 more scoring 100 percent on one.

　　Presenting the meat to students’ families one by one, the teachers encouraged their students to keep working hard. Upon receiving the gift, one student’s parents, who had just arrived home from the town where they work, were glad that the school had saved them money on meat for Spring Festival.
